Let's work together to bring out your best self-tape yet!
Alright, here's what we'll do:

Once you arrive at The Safe Space filming location, we'll do a few cold-reads of the script to shake off those nerves.

We'll talk about what's happening in the scene and any changes we want to make.

Next, we'll set up the frame, eye-lines, and look at any movement that might happen.

Then, we'll hit record and have some playing around with the scene. We'll get multiple takes and then discuss afterwards which ones we like.

After the filming session, we'll edit your self-tape and send you a downloadable WeTransfer link.

Finally, we'll see you at your next self-tape audition!
Pricing
Standard Self-Tape
$45 - 1 hr
One script & ID slate including editing.
PLEASE NOTE that if you have multiple scripts for audition, an additional fee of $15 will be charged for each extra script.
Audition Showreel
$75 - 1hr 30 min
An audition showreel can be sent to agents or be on your profile for casting directors to watch. An audition showreel needs to be short, snappy and showcases your range - we will record 3 scripts that do this and push you to showcase what you can do!
PLEASE NOTE an extra fee may incur if you'd like The Safe Space to provide scripts.
Something else...
Feel free to contact us if you have any inquiries or require a recording that is different from our standard self-tape e.g. a musical theatre audition or an audition without dialogue. We can discuss the pricing and time required for the project :))
Our Story
Based in Pōneke, Aotearoa, The Safe Space is dedicated to filming acting self-tape auditions and helping actors secure roles. Our platform provides local actors with the opportunity to showcase their talent and make a lasting impression on casting directors.
Creator, Jackson Burling (he/him), an emerging artist and recent acting graduate, is passionate about presenting oneself in the best possible way.
He believes that self-tapes are the future and he can help artists put their best performance forward. With his experience in casting, workshops, and on-set training, Jackson offers a unique perspective on self-tape quality and performance.
The Safe Space service provides a backdrop, microphone & lighting setup, an experienced reader, optional feedback and notes, and editing services to create a professional self-tape.
About the Space
Welcome to The Safe Space!
Our cozy apartment is located in the heart of Pōneke, Mount Victoria, and we can't wait for you to experience it.
We believe in using the physical elements of the apartment, like doors, windows, and furniture, to enhance your performance and create a warm, homely atmosphere.
With our simple but effective set up, including a neutral blue background, rode mic, and recording in 1080p and 60 frames per second, you'll look like a pro.
